Terms of service
These terms cover your use of Knot&Oak. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.

The service
Knot&Oak is a public catalog at knotandoak.com. Each page shows how to tie a knot or cut a joint, step by step. Reading is free and does not require an account. Pages can be added, edited, or removed at any time.
Learning, not a specification
The writing explains a knot or a joint in ordinary language. It is not a structural specification, a load rating, or professional advice. A drawing can be simplified. Check a trusted reference before you trust a knot or a joint with weight, with a boat, or with a piece of furniture.
The pages
The text, pictures, and page files on this site belong to Knot&Oak unless a page says otherwise. You may read them in your browser and you may link to a page.
You may quote a short passage if you link back to the page it came from. You may not copy a page into another product, republish it as your own, or collect the catalog to build a competing set of pages.
Acceptable use
Do not interfere with the site, attempt to break into the admin pages, probe for passwords, or send enough traffic that other people cannot read. Do not use the writing or the pictures to misrepresent Knot&Oak.
Other services
Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts. A topic page may load a video player from YouTube. Those services have their own terms, including YouTube’s terms. Every page also loads Matomo to count visits, and Matomo’s terms apply to that counter. What those services receive is described in the privacy policy.
Availability
The site is offered as it is and as it is available. A page can be incomplete, a model can fail to load in some browsers, and the site can be interrupted for maintenance or for reasons outside its control. There is no promise that a page will stay online or stay unchanged.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Knot&Oak is not liable for loss or damage that comes from using the site, relying on a page, or being unable to use a page. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
Changes to these terms
These terms can be updated by publishing a new version on this page. The date at the top is the latest version. Using the site after that date means you accept the updated terms. The site does not publish a postal address or a public email address.
